Case Study : RKZ Hospital

Background

The Red Cross Hospital Beverwijk (RKZ) is a medium-sized general hospital dedicated to optimizing the health and vitality of its patients. To improve patient care quality and operational efficiency, RKZ aimed to implement Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) across the organization. PROMs are structured questionnaires that patients fill out to report on their health status, symptoms, or health behavior, providing valuable insights into the outcomes of treatments from the patient's perspective.

Challenge

The primary challenge was to integrate PROMs into the hospital’s workflow effectively while overcoming existing barriers such as decentralized departmental operations, lack of a project leader, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, there was a need to ensure that the implementation of PROMs would not overwhelm healthcare providers or patients with excessive administrative burdens.
